THE HEIRLOOM OF THE KAHL FAMILY

The farmland and hunting ground belongs to the Kahl family, currently owned and managed by Günther & Caroline. The 5th generation, Roland and Cornelia, with their respective spouses, Liezlé and Wanjo, are already in line to continue the legacy.

Four adjacent farms make up the about 20 000 hectares of farmland. The farmland consists of bush savannah and open grassy areas, created partly naturally and partly by human intervention (by hand or with earthmoving machines).

Since 1995, on farms Klein Otjikango Ost (Ekundi Farming) and Otjikango Süd, about 2000ha of grassland have been mowed with hay-cutting machines and pressed into round bales. Depending on the demand and need, these are then delivered to other cattle farms, game farms and feedlot farms.

Furthermore, the Kahl family has also been cattle farmers since 1894. At the farmhouse, a large organic garden offers fruit, vegetables, herbs and depending on the season, oranges, tangerines, grapefruit, bananas, mulberries and figs. Seventeen stationary boreholes, each approx. 40-60m deep, operated by windmills supply 17 “Kraal” (neuter fence) systems with clear, natural water for the cattle, game, ourselves and our guests.

The water at the Hunting Lodge is, however, channeled through a decalcification system and a cleaning filter.

Drinking water from the tap, in the Hunting Lodge, is very safe and most enjoyable!
